Bernard L. Levy
Bernard I. Levy, MD, PhD is Emeritus Professor of Physiology, director of the Vessels and Blood Institute and senior member of the Paris Cardiovascular Research Centre (Inserm U970). He is the former Head of the Department of Non-invasive Clinical Investigation, Paris and Director of the Inserm Unit “Vascular Biology” in the Lariboisière Hospital. After receiving a M.D. from the University of Paris, he earned a PhD in fluid mechanics followed by training in vascular pathology and physiology. Dr. Levy’s research interests include the regulation of angiogenesis, and mechanical and structural properties of arteries in hypertension and diabetes mellitus. He served as president of the French National Program for Cardiovascular Research. Dr. Levy has received several awards from French and European Foundations and Academies. He lists elected memberships to the French, European and American Societies of Physiology, Cardiology and Hypertension. Dr. Levy is a member of the editorial board Atherosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology; he is an author of more than 400 original articles.
