Education and Positions: 1972 M.D. 1982-1988 Head of the Division of Diabetes & Endocrinology, Dept Medicine II, Univ Vienna. Since 1987 Professor of Medicine, University of Vienna He was for 25 years (1988-2013) Director of the Department of Medicine I (Diabetes, Endocrinology & Oncology) Rudolfstiftung Hospital, Vienna, Austria International Activities: 1988-1991 Council Member and 1991 Vice-President of the European Society for Clinical Investigation. 1994-1997 Council Member of the European Diabetes Association.
1996 President of the 32nd European Diabetes Congress – 32nd Annual Meeting of the European Diabetes Association (EASD) in Vienna, Austria

to a later date.
The conference will remain in Vilnius.
