Dr. Julius is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Zagreb (Croatia). In 1965 he joined the faculty of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he is presently Active Professor Emeritus of Medicine and Physiology. Dr. Julius is internationally recognized for his contributions to research and education in hypertension. He is the author of 500 papers and chapters in books. The Ann Arbor hypertension program, under his supervision, trained over 60 specialists in hypertension from numerous countries of the world. To honor him, the International Society of Hypertension established the “Stevo Julius Award,” given to distinguished educators in hypertension. He has received numerous national and international awards including the American Society of Hypertension 2006 William Harvey Award and the European Society of Hypertension Alberto Zanchetti award.
